What the hell is going on here?

Is anybody truly clear?

Is it love you seek, success, maybe wealth,

The perfect partner, career, good health?

STOP

Take a deep breath, in and out, in and out,

Pray please tell me, what it’s all about,

Go on, sit back, take your TIME,

Look deep in your heart, to within, the sublime,

Just pause for a moment, break through the delusion,

Be true to your fear, that anger and confusion.

Are you with me?

Watch those thoughts clouding your mind,

Observe those perceptions, let the feelings unwind,

Use your awareness to set you free,

To respond from that inner sanctuary,

Creatively, spontaneously,

Generously, genuinely,

But beware it isn’t easy letting go,

Awareness lost to that friend the ego,

So we grasp and attach, cling and crave,

To the past we’re a servant, the future a slave,

We judge and assume, hate and blame,

We kill and we curse, there’s a fortune to gain,

We chase and we fight for all we desire,

Envious of those we revere or admire,

And those who disagree with our views,

We reject and belittle, berate and abuse,

Turning round and round on that wheel of life,

One moment we’re in bliss and joy, the next in pain and strife.

But there is a way out of this involuntary reaction,

The greed, the anger, the ignorance and dissatisfaction,

It’s all impermanent, can’t you SEE,

Coming and going, no static destiny,

WE’ll all grow old, get sick and die,

Surely that’s something, you can’t deny,

Wake up to the truth, that everything’s changing,

Each moment unique, all existence rearranging.

Feeling depressed, I sympathise,

It sure ain’t easy seeing through the lies,

Look deeper still and you will find,

No permanent self in which to reside,

Without your habits guiding your volition,

Trapping you in this human condition,

There’s no me or you, this or that,

FACT!

Sit back, relax and meditate,

Seek beyond this obsessive state,

Break through this veil of stunting illusion,

Where heart and mind unite through fusion,

To see things as they really are,

A wisdom so deep, extending so far,

Unaffected by external occurrences, for these you can’t control,

Boundless compassion, equanimity and joy, become our highest goal.

Form is emptiness, emptiness in form,

In this very moment, NOW, create and transform,

Come join me in seeking the truth beyond this,

And together we’ll reside in unshaken bliss.

Yoga-It’s More Than Just Exercise

The hustle and bustle remains on the street,

When onto a mat you calmly retreat,

The daily thoughts rushing through your mind,

Are acknowledged in tun, then left behind.

When people gather with a similar aim,

A soothing atmosphere is rapidly gained,

Re-energising the body, mind and soul,

Yoga’s complex yet ultimate goal.

Relaxing, breathing, arsanas and sound,

Philosophy, exercise, your niche is soon found,

You assume the positions; dog, foetus and swan,

The warrior and cobra, your body held strong,

Gradually mastered one by one,

Combine many aspects in salute to the sun.

No competition, it’s not a contest,

Participate only to do your best,

Soaking in the beautiful surroundings,

The difference it makes is truly astounding.

No part of the system is ever ignored,

Each lesson new avenues are discovered and explored.

You may ask yourself, once you leave,

In the real world what have I achieved?

A toned body, a relaxed mental state,

Somewhat enlightened, refreshed, feeling great,

Less prone to illness, free from stress,

A positive attitude, your mind at rest,

A harmonious balance, a peace from within,

That’s far more beneficial than a workout in the gym!
