Yoga and Meditation Weekend
September 27th-29th, Anybody’s Barn, Malvern Hills
by Loren Treisman and Sunnah Rose
Grounding: Moving out of our heads and into our bodies
Western life can be hectic. It can be hard enough juggling work, family and social commitments, let alone finding quality time for ourselves. Often our heads are buzzing with activity, our thoughts chaotically darting around. We spend a lot of our time projecting into the future or dwelling in the past in a state Buddhists sometimes refer to as monkey mind. In this state, it can be hard for us to be fully present in the precious and unique moment of now.
This retreat will combine grounding yoga, meditation and mindfulness techniques to help guide you out of your mind and into your body. As your thoughts begin to slow down and you begin to experience the joy of being fully present in your body, in this very moment, you’re likely to feel calmer, more aware and expansive.
There’ll also be plenty of opportunity for discussions and exploring some of the philosophies underpinning these ancient practices, taking in the beautiful nature surrounding the retreat centre and establishing close connections while participating in community activities such as communal cooking.
Whether you’re new to yoga and meditation or are hoping to reconnect to these practices and deepen your experience, this retreat in the beautiful Malvern Hills may be just what you need to connect with yourself, reduce stress and infuse your daily experience with a deep sense of contentment and joy.
About the retreat facilitators:
Loren Lee (PhD):
I’m an experienced meditator with an eclectic practice. A lover of life, playful adventurer, wilful drifter and free spirit. I’ve run workshops and retreats for both adults and teenagers on meditation, mindfulness techniques, life mandalas, life coaching, well-being and sustainable development. I have been meditating for 16 years (various traditions) and during this time I have participated in courses as far ranging as mindfulness, Vipassana, tai chi, yoga, Buddhism, ethics, life coaching, peer education, sustainable development and well-being.
Sunnah Rose:
Sunnah Rose has been practicing yoga for many years but became truly inspired during a trip to India. ”It is amazing how your mind and body feel after just doing a few simple exercises. I love the awareness Yoga has given me of my body and mind. Yoga brings not only stillness and calm but also an indescribable energy and feeling of bliss.” Having trained with many different teachers, she combines her experience to bring a deeply relaxing class intent on releasing the spine alongside a gentle vinyasa (flow) hatha yoga, bringing creativity and dynamism to a practice.
