Buddhist Philosophy

Wheel of lifeBuddhist Philosophy is almost an endless field and it can sometimes be daunting when trying to explore some of the basic principles.  I became a ‘mitra’ or friend of the Triratna Buddhist tradition around five years ago, having participated in a wide variety of courses over the past decade and a half which have explored Buddhist teachings from a variety of schools of thought.  I have read dozens of books from a wide range of both Western and Eastern teachers.

For me, the philosophy is important only in so far as it enhances our meditation practice and even more importantly, the way in which we related to the world around us.  Having an understanding of basic Buddhist principles will enable you to have a better understanding of yourself and others as well as the environment around you.  This will enable you to respond to the world more creatively and with an attitude of fearlessness, openness, compassion and spontaneity.  These timeless teachings are as applicable to modern living as they were to monks studying them in ancient times.

My workshops explore these themes in a highly participatory and interactive way, enabling you to put the theory into practice in your every day lives.

Buddhist philosophy aTopics explored include:

  • Reactive vs Creative Mind
  • The Nature of Self
  • The Four Insights
  • The Eightfold path
  • The Wheel of Life
  • Buddhist Ethics
  • The Inter-relatedness of Wisdom, Compassion and Ethics
  • The Nature of Reality

And Many more.

If you or your friends would like to explore any of these themes in more detail, please contact me here.

Workshop Calendar Coming Soon!  Please note that I am currently on a two month work related trip in West Africa and will then be facilitating workshops on the festival circuit.  A new schedule will be posted in the autumn.
