Sustainable Development in Less Economically Developed Countries

Licked by a Jersey-Friesian cross.

Having  lived  and worked in East Africa for two and a half years, I now head up a small charitable foundation which empowers people to create the positive changes they wish to see in their own lives and communities. You can find out more here if you’re interested.  I have seven years experience working in the international development sector.

Masai kidsThese workshops are tailored towards anyone considering volunteering or working in the developing world.  They aim to encourage you to think about the ways in which you can empower citizens to make positive change and ensure that any activities you are involved in are likely to make a positive impact.

These workshops are highly participatory and themes explored include:

  • Sustainable Development
  • Participatory Practices
  • The Rights Based Approach to Development
  • Market based Approaches to Development
  • Grassroots Initiatives
  • Why so many development projects fail
  • Advice on how to get started
  • Practical case studies and stories which bring to life the theory

Registering a cow via text messageYou can see me talking on the BBC about a particular approach to development here.  If you are an individual interested in volunteering or working in the developing world, a development practitioner aiming to enhance your understanding of how best to work at a local level or a charity or organisation which sends staff or volunteers to the developing world and you would like me to run a workshop around these themes, please contact me here.

Workshop Calendar Coming Soon!  Please note that I am currently on a two month work related trip in West Africa and will then be facilitating workshops on the festival circuit.  A new schedule will be posted in the autumn.
